Celadon Porcelain Matcha Bowl — “Ling Que” 灵雀

Celadon Porcelain Matcha Bowl — “Ling Que” 灵雀

SKU: m250006

“Ling Que” (灵雀), meaning spirit bird, is an artist-edition matcha bowl designed exclusively for MEP by ceramic artist Zhang Yunfei.

Hand-thrown in soft celadon porcelain and finished with flowing brown slip brushwork, each bowl carries spontaneous, feather-like markings that move gently across the surface — no two patterns are ever the same.

The rounded form and subtle pouring lip support smooth whisking and easy serving, while the quiet rhythm of the painted motifs brings a sense of movement into stillness.

It is a bowl shaped not only for matcha, but for moments of pause, attention, and shared presence.

On the base of each bowl, you will find the artist’s handwritten signature, marking every piece as a singular work.

Zhang Yunfei 张云飞

Ceramic Artist · Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China

Based in Jingdezhen, the world’s porcelain capital, Zhang Yunfei's practice moves between reinterpreting traditional ceramic language and exploring ceramics as a quiet continuation of life.

Working primarily with high-white porcelain clay, he follows a philosophy of “nine parts shaping, one part refining,” allowing the nature of the clay to guide the final form.

Rather than forcing strict control, he embraces subtle shifts in surface, tension, and movement — seeing each vessel as a reflection of inner rhythm and lived experience.

Each piece is a small dance between hands and earth, carrying its own free expression.

    • Material: Celadon porcelain with brown slip decoration

    • Technique: Hand-thrown on the wheel, hand-painted, hand-glazed
