Branding & Visual Identity for mep

Bienvenue Studios is a Zurich-based design duo founded by Oliver Hischier and Xiaoqun Wu, working at the intersection of nature and visual culture through their Biophilic Design approach. Coming from very different backgrounds — Oliver growing up in the Swiss Alps, and Wu raised in Shanghai before moving to Switzerland as a teenager — their collaboration is shaped by a shared curiosity for how people experience nature across cultures, cities, and everyday environments. Since meeting at the F+F School of Art and Design in Zurich and later completing their Master’s degrees in Design at the Bern University of the Arts, they have continued to explore how natural phenomena, myths, and traditions can be translated into contemporary visual language.
From the very beginning of MEP, Bienvenue approached the project not as a fixed brand, but as an open space — a place that could be read as a matcha ritual, an art platform, or simply a container for evolving programs and encounters. The logo does not point to a single meaning, but remains open to many interpretations. Inspired by the rhythm and tension of Chinese calligraphy, especially Shoujin Script (瘦金体), its curves can be recombined into evolving graphic patterns across packaging, space, and digital platforms. Even the blank center is intentional — echoing the idea of yin seal in traditional seal carving, where meaning appears through what is left empty.
We are deeply grateful to Bienvenue Studios for shaping the visual language that now carries MEP into the city and beyond. Their sensitivity, imagination, and trust in openness allowed MEP to begin not with answers, but with space — for people, for art, and for everything that is still to come.
