ALL INSIDE (for E.K.)

ALL INSIDE (for E.K.) presents a collaborative body of work by Patric Sandri and his 7-year-old son. The works shift painting away from the traditional surface and toward its inner structure. Image, support, and perception are understood as a connected system.

At the core of the works is a deliberate relocation of paint. The colour is not applied to the visible front surface, but to the inner side of the architecture of the painting, as well as to concealed or only partially visible layers. As a result, no fixed or immediately legible image emerges in the traditional sense; instead, the work unfolds as a condition that is experienced through space and movement.

The image is not grasped at a single glance. It emerges through approach, distance, and shifts in perspective. Perception thus becomes part of the work itself.

Painting is not understood as representation, but as a material process within the structure of the work. The collaboration between the artist and his son brings together different approaches to making—intuitive, direct, and without hierarchical separation.

The drawings by the son are not commentary or illustration, but independent contributions within the working process. They shift questions of authorship and present the image as the result of different, equally valid forms of action.

The title ALL INSIDE (for E.K.) carries multiple meanings: it refers to the relocation of paint into the interior of the image, to the structure of the works themselves, and at the same time to a deeply personal dedication. “All Inside” also points to the shared process of making, in which the interior becomes both a physical site and a connecting space.

The exhibition understands space as part of the work. Images do not only emerge within the object, but also through their relationship to space and the movement of the viewer. The result is an exhibition in which material, perception, and personal proximity are interwoven without imposing a single fixed reading.
